Branscomb Farm, on a limited availability basis, will accommodate the owners of young horses (generally up to 6 years of age) to board their equine companions enjoy the same foaling, raising, and age appropriate training we provide to our own young horses. By taking advantage of the size of our fields, the carefull use of small herd groups for social and emotional development, and allowing horses that are being introduced to riding to continue living in the lower stress environment of a group paddock or field we believe we can do a better job and keep expenses manageable in comparison to full service stall accommodations often required at other young horse starting or training programs.
Our young horse starting and development program transitions from basic ground work, long lining, introduction to tack and familiar barn and trailer experiences and progresses to under saddle trail and arena riding under the expert guidance of our experinced starters. Horses between four and five years, who are graduates of that starting program will move on to being ridden by Head Trainer Ivy Creahan and her two assistants Cali and Sophia. Please review the Video (will open in a separate tab) get an idea of how young horses are started and the kind of very early introduction to show experiences and jumping represented by our kindergarten field trips.
